My take on the two evergreen heros

Before I begin my piece of text, let me tell you one thing, this blog is not the outcome of a big research or something. It's purely my own finding. I have to be careful while writing about the two reel kings of Malayalam film industry. I am talking about Mammootty and Mohan Lal. Both are lively there in the Malayalam film industry for the last 26 years. So many stars came and disappeared since the first Malayalam movie released, but no one could have created such an influence as they did. Now let me put a question before you, why these two actors are still there in the industry? A lot of new bunch of actors come out every year. Some could contribute good movies to Malayalam cinema, some have got recognition, some of them are really talented too, still they could not conquer the kingdom that had been owned by Mammootty and Lal. According to me, their assets are dedication and hard work. Mammootty himself had told in many interviews that he's not a born actor but he can compete with talented actors by his hard work and tireless efforts.

Both mammootty and Lal are very hardworking. They're ready to do whatever hardships for the perfection of a characters (remember mammootty taken off his hair for Yaathra, put on weight for Mathilukal, Mohan lal taken off his moustache for Panjaagni and learnt kathakali for Vaanaprastam). All that has brought recognition to Malayalam cinema globally. I am not telling that only they had done such things. Dileep and Suresh gopi are also had done so many such characters. (Remember Dileep's Mulla and Chandupottu, Suresh gopi's Kaliyattom).

Most of the young generation stars are not willing to loose their image. For some of them, film is a white color job or glamorous world where money is everything. Nobody can win the battle until and unless they came out of their image and work with 100% dedication. Mammootty's last years Blockbuster, Kathaparayumbol has a real story behind it. The same movie had re-made in Tamil as Kuselan for that Rajanikant taken money more than what he had got from his previous blockbuster, shivaji. For kathaparayumbol, mammootty had not taken anything from the producer. Because his previous movie was a flop (Bhargava charitham) which had brought major lose to the producer. The new generation stars are not care about the producers lose. MohanLal had lost lots of money for producing good film in Malayalam (Vaanaprastham) knowingly that it would not be a commercial success.

The rising stars in malayalam should remember one thing, it's a team work and lots of people will have to suffer if your movie will be a commercial flop and you have commitment to your producers. You should have a dedication to the project you're working on. Otherwise Mammootty and Lal would be a NOT OUT.

Hi Jijo,
First of all, it is a neutral approach to Mammooty and Mohanlal in this blog and it has balanced well which is a good thing.

The reason for being they are still number one's in the industry is because they both exist in competing each other is one of the major facts. IF in case of one is not there, then it would be a monopoloy and obiously, the quality will go down.
